1. Background

Frank Styles is a spray paint mural artist, street artist, graffiti artist, and fine artist specialising

in large public artworks and smaller abstract pieces. Public artworks and murals use large

scale realism, rooted in local heritage, culture and storytelling. Smaller scale neo calligraphic

abstract work focuses on personal expression, thematically exploring the natural world and

North East coastline, influenced by colour theory, composition and technique.

Abstract neo calligraphic expressionism uses marks evolved from graffiti lettering. Mark

making becomes automatic and although certain shapes within letter structures can be

found, the artworks don’t actually contain letters. The artworks are created with a gradient

reveal technique which allows fluid lines to become a gradient. The artworks are almost

totally flat, painted onto aluminium composite. All pieces are unique and take many days to

complete. Frank has also developed a hanging system that allows these paintings to sit one

inch from the wall with no fixings visible, creating a small shadow for a contemporary look

2. Objectives

I am seeking to appoint a freelance marketing consultant to work with me in September 2023

to develop a new marketing campaign. This will be initially one day of work, with potential

longer term commissioning in 2023-24.

3. Deadline for submission of proposals

4. Brief

● Objective: Develop a campaign to foster new partnerships for commissions of

contemporary abstract artworks, within the private sector.

● Target audience: Business to business campaign for private sector (eg. property

development, local and regional businesses).

● Key message: High quality, unique, contemporary abstract artwork. Size, colour

composition, and quantity bespoke to your business and space.

● Call to action: Contact for bespoke commissions.

5. Procurement

The deadline for submission of proposals is 9am Thursday 31 August. The successful

applicant will be notified via email on Monday 4th September 2023.

Quotation assessment

There is a fixed price (inclusive of VAT) for this work, including all time, travel, subsistence

and other costs.

Budget

1 days’ work total at £250 per day = £250. The schedule of this time is likely to be split in 4x

2 hour sessions, and will be decided in consultation with Frank Styles at the planning stage.
